Vela is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in military service, tactical optics, and thermal imaging solutions, making him an invaluable addition to RPO’s vision for innovation and growth within the sporting and tactical optics markets.

Vela, A U.S. Marine Corps veteran with eight years of service, conducted multiple combat deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq, where he served as a Scout/Sniper Team Lead, Marksmanship Instructor, and Lead Survival Instructor at the Jungle Warfare Training Center. He was honorably discharged in 2008, having earned numerous awards, including the Presidential Unit Citation, the LULAC Latin American Marine of the Year, and the Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device for combat valor.

Following his military service, Juan transitioned into the civilian sector, dedicating seven years to the tactical and sporting optics industry with Leupold & Stevens, Inc. There, he worked with precision optics and tactical solutions, serving both military and law enforcement clients, as well as the civilian hunting community.

Vela also has experience in thermal imaging solutions from his time at Teledyne-FLIR where he served as National Public Safety Sales Manager. In this capacity, he worked closely with law enforcement, fire departments, and other public safety agencies across the U.S. to integrate and implement thermal imaging and drone technologies to enhance operational capabilities.
Juan's diverse background in military operations, tactical optics, and cutting-edge technology solutions positions him as a key member of the team at Rochester Precision Optics.

In his new role with RPO, Vela will oversee key initiatives to enhance RPO’s product offerings and expand market reach within the tactical and sporting optics markets. With a strong background in leading cross-functional teams and a track record of driving sustainable growth, Vela’s skillset and talents align perfectly with RPO’s mission to deliver exceptional quality and service to its customers.
